I keep losing clutches in my 91 300ZX 2+2. I just had the clutch replaced for the 3rd time at 85K. Previous failures at 35K and 48K. The dealer confirmed it's not my driving & doesn't know why they're wearing out. They say it appears as if I'm riding the clutch -- which isn't happening. Anybody out there with similar experiences?

Yes, when I shift from 4th to 5th. It gives out a grinding sound. It doesn't happen too often. May be 30% of the time, but it's bad enough. I brought it back to Nissan a couple of times for that but they don't know why.

henry, the Z is a great engineered car but a flaw in thier work was a WEAK clutch- thier was an editorial in car - driver about used cars and if they were good or not and they mentioned the Z's WEAK clutch and also brake rotors warping
the only way to fix the problem is buy buying an aftermarket clutch, RPS, centerforce, clutches are the most respectable names for a Z

beleive me ive gone thru all the problems
Brake rotors, clutche(s) -3 to be exact-every 6 months I had to change the clutch
my Z is a 1991 300ZX Twin Turbo with a greddy exhaust and intake Bigger injectors and a reprogrammed computer it did a 13.2 @109mph
at atco raceway in N.J.

THE ONLY WAY TO CURE YOUR CLUTCH WOES ARE TO BUY A AFTER MARKET CLUTCH
CONSIDER THIS
STOCK CLUTCH HOLDING WGHT-1780 PDS
AFTERMARKET CLUTCH-OVER 2000 PDS
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE NITTY GRITTY CALL ME, BROQUE 201-914-4364
