Recently in a discussion, (sorry, I have a bad memory) someone mentioned that removing the exhaust port liners would leave the 4 small bumps, causing exhaust turbulence... and if they were ground down and smoothed into the exhaust port, it would open up the exhaust too much. If I stayed with the stock maxima head exhaust valves, would this be true on a 10.5:1 compression engine?
Why would anyone remove the liners? The exhaust ports with liners still flow more than enough air for a hot street engine. Just smooth the area between the seat and the start of the liner and move on to something more productive!
