I did what the directions said to the letter and the sealer has been curing for 2 days and I just looked at it and its peeling in sheets on the inside. Now I have to clean that out. Im realy pissed off now. How hard is it to put in a fuel cell and where can I buy an inexpensive one?

What did you use to clean the tank? You should have used muriatic acid so it would etch the metal. Then rinse all the acid out and blow dry it. You probably still had some minute moisture in the tank. For most fuel cells you're gonna have to do something custom. Just go find a tank at a local junkyard, preferably upgrade to a 77-78, and try again, or have it professionally done.
I used the Por15 fuel tank repair kit and they said it was everything I need. I used the cleaner to get rid of gum build up, a cleaner to get rid of the rust and etch the metal. Then I got it bone dry and then put in the sealer. I did exactly what the directions did and it is peeling from the sides. I have yet to find a first gen 280/260/240 in any junkyard in my area. How much frabicating is involved in putting in a fuel cell? wouldnt it be just running some longer hosing?
Check this out www.car-parts.com or car-part.com if that doesnt work. I think you'll find what you need there. I used muriatic acid (pool acid) when I did mine. Can be found at any hardware store or home depot, lowes, etc for like 2 or 3 bucks a gallon. Pour in a gallon, swish it around with some STEEL bolts and nuts in the tank to scour it. Pour out and rinse like ****. Then repeat! Take out bolts, air dry with compressed air, and put in POR. If you don't wanna do it again, check out that site and see about getting another one that isn't rusty if you can. Most rad shops will do fuel tanks.
Swishing with a length of steel chain works well too.
well I may have found a new tank, I called a radiator shop and the guy hapen to own a 260Z and knows where I can find a 280Z in a local junkyard. I hope the tank is in ok shape as in it wont cost alot to have fixed. Maybe I can find some extra bits and peices to take. :)
yep, you blew it if you did not shake like crazy with a dog chain in there.
