RE: Welcome to the new discussion forums

Cool I am the first one to write a message on the new program! I am contemplating the idea of rebuilding a turbo engine or a N/A engine. Any opinions? Which would yeild more power? Pros cons? Thanks

Can't say I like it...

Maybe it will grow on me. What about the " new " in front of a post, to let us know which is the newest? How come the other forums 84-89, and 90-96 are the old way?

RE: Welcome to the new discussion forums

It looks great, A bit of a shock when I first opened it up though. I was expecting the same page I've seen for the last 6 months. I will miss the e-mail notifacations since I have two locations 50 miles apart where I check messages. Other than that I like the change.

I'm looking into the "new" logo. I'll keep you guys posted. The other forums have not been converted yet. This forum is the one that was causing all of the speed problems, and I only had time to do one of them last night. I'll try to convert the other ones tonight.

The email notification shouldn't be hard for me to add (maybe next week). I know the language this program is written in much bettter than the old forum. It will be much easier for me to implement changes.

Yep, the black is a stark contrast to the way it used to be. I'm looking into some different color schemes.

Personally, I'll take the speed over the looks. And when the old features come back online, it'll rock.

Thanks for the improvement, my suggestions.....

Derek,

Quite a shock this mornging, to see such a drastic change in the forum. Will take a little getting used to, but the speed is SO MUCH BETTER. It's nice to have someone actually working to IMPROVE the site, unlike others, who just let sites sit. A pro-active administrator is definetely nice to have.

Anyways, my suggestions:
1) A new color scheme similar to the old style was a little more pleasing than the current one. I could do without the gray and white lines. Or, maybe one post and all replies related to that post could be gray, while adjacent posts are an alternate color. Then, we could just glance at the post, and see all the replies related to that post, simply because they have the same color background.

2) Some old features, like the 'new' icon would be nice.

3) A LARGER MESSAGE BOX to type in. Small message boxes are very annoying, since sentences seem to turn into paragraphs. It's hard to see what you're typing.

4) A LARGER FORUM that doesn't wrap text. This makes it hard to dicern between reply's and original posts.

Once again, thanks for the work on your part. We all appreciate your efforts on trying to improve this site. Thanks for being such an attentive administrator.

RE: Welcome to the new discussion forums

Cant say I used the email notification that much . I am a frequent user . I loved the old format with the NEW notification . It was terribly slow and I have a slow modem as well . I am glad to see the change but don't like this format very distracting . I realize you are very busy and I am not criticizing here . I think the search option would be super and an FAQ section along with old style layout is the wish list . I sympathize with your position Dereck, we all know you are working toward bettering the site and appreciate the time you have put in . I will help out with FAQ writing and will have a TURBO transplant into my 78z article with pictures for you sometime in mid summer .UPgraded turbo intercooler and a full and complete How to with prices . I am sure this should satisfy a few people .

Faster Derek? This thing SCREAMS!!!

Wow Derek! On my T1 these messages are popping up as fast as I can click on them. You done good my friend!

I know that you'll get all the minor details like color schemes and format ironed out in short order. I am a computer artist and programmer and think you have great taste in color schemes and UI design. You have been more than gracious for giving us this forum.

Thanks again.

LOVE IT!

I must agree with most of the guys and gals her. This new forum is well worth it!. I listen to Cd's on my 'puter, and it slows it down quite a bit, but now the messages pop up faster then I can spin the tires on my Z! Ok, maybe that was an exaggeration, but it certainly screams! Thanks for keeping up on this site Derek, and good work!

RE: 82 280zx

I recently put an 80 motor in my 82. There is no oxygen
sensor on the 80 exhaust. can I drill a hole in the exhaust and weld a nut for the oxygen sensor or should I just use my 82 intake and exhaust manifolds. Any other tips are appreciated.

Windows Tree Structure ??? Suggestion

Just a suggestion I would like to throw out there that forum could be designed like the windows tree structure for the front end having all messages collapsed double click on the plus and branch expands . I don't know how easy it is to program but I imagine that there is a fair bit of code already done on this type of subject .

RE: Windows Tree Structure ??? Suggestion

If you click on the Collapse Threads/View Threads link on the index page you'll find it does much the same thing.
