I have about got the family talked into my Christmas present. Is it worth the extra
$30 a rim for the 7's? Can you put a 215-60 on a six inch rim? There are some archive posts that seem to say you can do just that. Thanks

Well, how much horsepower do you have?

In a stock 240z putting on my rubber to me is not necessarily an improvement.

My stock 240z has 205 tyres and I am about to put on 195 tyres to lighten up the handling and make it a bit more fluid.

If you have a monster engine then sure wider wheels are good.

To me the suspension is more important - get the suspension working well before hiding handling problems with wide tyres.

Feel free to disagree!!!

Cheers

Talk to Kurt

Kurt is cool, races and knows Panasport rims and tire combos. Will chat at length and cut a deal on rims, caps and lugs.

Stock swastika rims on the '82-'83 280ZX turbos were 15X7 with a recommended tire width of 205/60 — which fits and looks good. I've seen 215s (and even 225s) mounted on these same rims. They looked okay, too, although I don't think you gain anything traction wise for the extra $$$ you'd spend. Personally, I would not put 215/60s on a 6-inch rim, but again, people do it. I'd go with the 7s.
