Last week there was a question posted on what kind and color to paint the rear panel on early Z's. The message is gone, but I have a good answer for you.

I know the panel looks black, but take a close look at a stock car with the original paint. It is actually a dark grey metallic. If you use shiny black or even flat black it just won't look right.

I looked around a lot before choosing the paint for my restoration. I ended up using SEM Brand trim paint. The color is Titanium Metallic. It is a very dark grey metallic. I found it at my local auto paint store. It is available in spray cans, so is very convenient.

The results were great. It has the same color as the original, and the same texture. I used this on the rear panel around the tail lights, and on the leuvers. I highly recommend it.

Have fun with your Z!
