Last night, my wife was on her way home from school, evidently the car the car overheated and she didn't stop, she continued to drive and she said the car just shut off. I pulled the car home, refilled the radiator and tried to start the car but it won't start, engine smells burnt. I checked to see if there was any water in the oil or if it was milky, but the oil looks fine. It's cranks but won't start. I think the engine is toasted, just replaced it earlier in the year, what do you all think? Any replies will be appreciated.

Does it get a spark?
Does the fuel pump run? If it does, can you hear the fuel circulate through the fuel pressure regulator?
How about running a compression test?

I filled the rad and started it today, but it won't continue to run unless I press the accelerator, and it's missing terribly. I noticed water leaking out of the radiator while the car running, so I shut it off and thanks for the suggestions Mr. T., will try compression test next weekend.
