The vinyl on the rear panel of my 1980 ZX is brittle and has shrunk away from the panel in places. Is there a source for this tan material? If I applied heat to the vinyl would it soften and allow me to pull it off so that I could re-glue and re-stretch it? It is not torn or cracked, just lumpy.

Just go to a fabric store for the vinyl. That is what I did for my 1980. I cut a small piece from the panel and matched it at the store. My color was maroon. I bought several yards and used 3M spray adhesive. It's held up for at least 10 years. FYI, I'm the original owner. It was not expensive.

I had an upholstery shop do mine years ago, and they used the same kind of material. The color is out there and pretty easy to match.

On my 82 ZXT. I removed the panel, removed vinyl, sanded off the old powdery adhesive that was on there and painted it with spray paint, it was black, came out perfect can't tell the difference.
