One of our Zs is starting to die at idle. We have a 79, swapped a 78 engine into it when the orig. engine died. Anyways, he's saying once he stops at a light, if he doesn't give it gas (keeping it about 1000 RPMs), then it dies. It used to do that all the time on the original engine. What's the problem here guys? I've got 4 Zs, I shoudl know the answer but mine are always really dependable and I don't have too many problems with mine.

i had this problem before and it was the easiest thing that i looked over like so many times. check the conection to the coil. and check the timing

check to make sure the intake manifold is bolted down tight. I dont know why but mine shut down when i didnt have them quite tight enough. I dont understand the logic behind it
