My oil pressure unit on the block has no lead to it. Today I found the only loose wire over on the passenger side...a black one. I thought this must be the lead I was looking for, but it seems to be hot even with the key off, it sparks if i ground it. Can someone describe what the oil pressure circuit looks like?

Oil pressure sending unit wire should be yellow w/ white stripe. Most likely at this age will look just yellowish or off white. The wire would only have voltage on it with key in on position.

Okay. Don't see it anywhere. How does it get back through the firewall? Does it come out of the lighting harness at the front?

Just went out and looked at mine. It is yellow w/ BLACK stripe (looks dull white w/stripe) it runs directly into the bundle of wires for the alternator. At that point it is covered with an additional piece of black plastic tubing. From there it goes into the main bundle on the r/h frame rail and then back into the main bundle that goes into the cabin.
