hiya folks,

I searched the archives and couldn't find any other post regarding this issue. I've got an '83 280zx 2+2 that has the problem of the oil pressure dropping off to nothing whenever I go over 2500 rpm. I can get around this by shifting up just below that level, but I'd like to be able to get full power out of each gear. it happens in every gear and also in neutral. its not precisely 2500, but around that point. if I let off the gas it usually goes back up to normal. any suggestions as to what the problem might be? I'd like to try to fix it myself rather than taking it to a shop. I just got done fixing the alternator and thought the car was finally complete. thanks,

Neal

make sure the oil is full, then change out the sender unit on the oil filter side of the block and hopefully that is the problem.

my car did the exact same thing. it's the oil pressure sending unit. I garuntee it. i changed it and it worked fine. if you were low on oil then your gauge would probably read higher than normal. it's located right of the oil filter and has a wire that plugs into it that pulls right off (just in case you didn't know). 82 zx n/a 2+2
