I'm not sure if this is any easier than hoisting the engine but here's what I did to change mine. First get a good durable gasket, I think I used the felpro from ckecker, you want one that you can bend and pull on a little, don't use a cork one. Remove the sway bar and drain the oil, then take all the little bolts out. You should then be able to move the oil pan a little, it won't come out, but you should have just enough room to clean the old gasket off and put the new one in. Sliding the new one in is a little tricky, you have to reach in there and manuver it around the oil pickup. It will go just be careful not to damage the gasket pulling it under the engine. I recommend getting a friend to help you position different things when two hands aren't enough. I thing it took me around 1 1/2 hours to complete the job and it's been 14 months without any leaks.
