I have oil leaking from a part that I do not know. It is not marked in my 500 page shop manual. It's about 3-4 inches from the oil pressure switch towards the front of the motor. It does not leak at idle but raise the RPMs up to 1200 and it drips out. There is nothing connected to it and it doesn't look like it can be hooked up to anything. I'm hoping someone has the info because i'm sick of putting in a quart of oil every week and a half. Thanks in advance!

You need to be a little more descriptive thatn that. I cant imagine what you are talking about. The only thing I can think of that would leak is the hole in the head for the old style fuel pump that is under the power steering pump. Need some more info.

I have a 1981, 280 ZX that is leaking quite a bit of oil from what I thought was underneath the oil pressure sending unit. Can not really tell as I have not had time to really check it out. When I removed the rubber dust cover from the oil pressure sending unit there was quite a bit of oil in it. Let me know if you find out the problem and how to fix it as my leak is in the same area.

I wish I could just put a picture up here to show you what I am talking about...
The piece I am talking about screws into the engine which is near the alternator. I can fit a 1 1/4" socket on there and that is about the size of it, the shallow socket fits around the whole thing. I see where the sending unit and the pressure switch is at, and this is about 3-4 inches towards the front of the motor from the oil pressure switch. I don't know what other info I can give to help, but ask and i'll try, thanks again!

I think I know the area you are talking about. I had the 1,1/4 bolt out today as it holds the bracket for the alternator and fuel rack. It did not leak oil when I had it out today. However, I am still losing oil from somewhere around or under the oil sending unit. I am going to try and use a heavier oil. I am going to have to replace an injector and I had the fuel rack loosened up today and had to remove the bolt I think you were talking about. good luck, it seems that no one knows about this one. I did see a post here sometime back that someone was saying that their
z leaked a lot if they used a 30 weight oil. So they went to something heavier.

Well atleast I feel better knowing i'm not going crazy! Was yours hooked up to anything? I would like to know what purpose it has. I am just tempted to screw in a bolt to keep it from leaking...I have about 5 months to make a decision because it's tucked away from the snow, ice, salt and cold. Anyone with info help please! Thanks!
