Re: OH SHIZ ALMOST HIT GRAGE BECAUSE OF THIS

sounds like your clutch master is going, or you have air in the line. The master is about 30 bucks from a parts store and is on the fire wall drivers side right next to the brake master. It takes about 30 minutes to replace and bleed. good luck

Same thing happen to me. I have an 82 280z. First thing to do is to check your master cyl. for leaks. looks for any fluid anywhere around it. If you see any, thats your problem. If not. then its the operating cyl.

There has to be a leak in the system because they are air-tight, in order for air to get into it ( which is prob. what happened ) there has to be a leak. And because their are only 2 real parts to your clutch hydro. system ( operating cyl/ master cyl ) its either one or the other.

and just a quick word of advice DO NOT PUMP THE CLUTCH!! it only makes the problem worse!

Re: OH SHIZ ALMOST HIT GRAGE BECAUSE OF THIS

I have an 83 who's clutch will "stick" to the floor and have to be "toed" back up. Also, it will, on some occasions, start releasing while I'm holding it down.

There are no leaks that I can see, I'm not losing fluid. I did flush and bleed it and it did not help.

I plan to change the master cylinder. There's a bypass (I think) that my be sticking in it. Besides, there are only two components: Master and slave. I have a 50% chance to get it right.

Just a note: It shifts better when you double-clutch (pump) like a truck :)

Good Luck,

RbM
