OBD1 conversion

Recently i bought a 96 300zxtt. I know that in 96 the 300zx lost its vvt and it switched to obd2. Im assuming its not possible to swap over to obd1 without replacing a cam to use the vvt, but i would like to know if it is possible without doing it and if anyone could tell me exactly what would have to be done. If you ask why its because as far as i can tell its much easier to do the tuning on a obd1 model than obd2 if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

there are some people who can tune the ECU for you... I know Ash was doing it some time ago... don't know if he's still in business, but as far as "can it be done" well depends on your pockets... ****... some people here have done 2jz conversions I don't see why you couldn't ::)
Ash is alive and still in business, Wednesday I talked on the phone with him about a new product due to release before Thanksgiving. If he's doing what you're interested in.....I dunno.
how do i get a hold of ash then? (I have no idea who that is)
This is his site, I remember reading long ago he was upgrading the obd II ecu's as well... give him a call he might still have something for ya,

Ashley Powers is his full name I believe. Sal posted his contact info..
I gave him a call and he told me he didn't do any ecu work on the 96 model zxtt
what!? I could've sworn he did...

well then, there's always Jim Wolf =P

call Coz, he'll give you a better heads up on what they have available for that year
alright thanks its greatly appreciated.
Salvadoran300zx - you didn't imagine it, there have been Ash referenced postings over on tt.net about the OBDII ECUs. Maybe there wasn't enough demand and it couldn't be justified?....not all that many cars with this system.

HA! HA! I KNEW IT! lol

thanks Jzack
Go with JWT - safer power, IMO.

I have had messages into Ash on my previous ECU program that date back to mid-'09 - still unanswered. Emails, texts, IM's...no response.

I suspected his stock program was too rich at lower boost and too lean over 14psi and a tuning session confirmed this.

I recently replaced the ash e-prom earlier this year with a Conzult solution (custom tune).

I'd recommend JWT (yeah, they're more expensive)... their service is great and their products work.

As far as off the shelf tuning goes....

I have been most pleased with Greg's chip from specialtyZ. He said that they have cataloged every setup they have done and when someone calls and gives them the run down on their mods, he can almost always find one that is right on. And when I bought injectors from him to replace the DW's that gave me so much trouble, he threw in the tune for free. They are always there, always answer the phone, and are always willing to give you a couple of minutes to discuss issues. Those guys are awesome.
hey maxx, feel like sharing a website, you never know when they may come in handy =P
