I have a Datson 1980 280zx. just got it a month ago in good condition battery was dead when i got it the wiring looks a little shot tho i want to get a new wiring harness. but first i would like some help.

the car dues not start its got compression and fuel spark i think it in the timing. when i was investigating the timing problems i noticed that a wire from a condincer mounted next to the coil was cooked. the two wires coming out of it one goes into the distrubuter below the ic module and the other dissapears into the wiring harness.

what is this condinser for other than picking up electrical off the coil?

could this be my problem?

and where can i find a new one?

is it part of the timing control???

i know i probably sound like an ideat but thats why i am asking you for help

ps please forgive the spelling i know its bad

I would love to help you but cannot make hide nor hair of your post. You said something, I think about a condenser. Condensers are mounted on the coil and alternator to reduce static on the AM radio band. Usually they are grounded on the distributor. This would not keep your coil from firing. If this is not what you are asking, perhaps you can be a bit more descriptive.
is this a real post? You said you have fuel pressure, spark, compression. try wiggle the keys while starting, try barely turning it, or over extending not break key hard. both my dd have trick ignitions from age. like turn key too far and no spark, or pull key out a pube hair and the tumblers suddenly work.
ok i know 100% its a timing problem now.

I am not sure what in timeing.

the guy i got it from had it sitting for a long time

I am going to try re setting the distributer and see if i can fix it that way but i think i should try to replace the ic unit first to see if that works because a distributer just dosn't jump off timing.

what do you all think
I think you should download the free FSM from xenon's130. Read it, study it, learn it. Then do some testing. Then ask ?'s about your findings.
Tell you what...you've had this post up for a week and only 5 posts, none of which have an answer. Try this crazy idea. Go back to your school and find one of those guys who paid attention in class and studied. Tell him your problem and thoughts and have him translate it into a grammatically correct coherent paragraph. Then tell your kids why they need to learn this $hit.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa for get it i give up i have no clue what i am doing anymore or whats wrong.

i dk what the **** is wrong with it.
We feel your pain along with Bill Clinton...we just don't understand it. Where are you located. If you're around Chatt Town I'll come see you myself.
the crank pulley has timing marks on it. pull the spark plugs, Lable Wires, And Pop distributor Cap Off, rotate the engine by hand untill the rotor is pointing to the number 1 spark plug wire. take a picture of the crank pulley and read what it says. post back what you see.
