My car broke down on me almost two months ago. First my elec. ign.(petronix Ignitor) blew up while I was driving. Then, when I put the points back on, they melted. I ended up changing my voltage regulator and distributor cause it looked messed up. Now I can't even get a spark from my coil. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

> You don't specify which model it is, but have you checked the 14 gauge fusible link in the little box mounted on the upper center of the passenger side front fender well? My 76 280Z 2+2 was giving me fits Like I had an intermittent open on a relay. Turned out to be intermittent contact at the connections due to dirt/corrosion. I also bought replacement plastic cover boxes at the dealer ($4.50 ea) to keep dirt and weather out. mikey

have you checked for voltage to the coil? also check the coil with an ohm meter for primary/secondary windings being open or shorted.double check that + on coil goes to ignition (key) hot and - goes to distributor.

My gapping was off, and I had a bad wire from the coil to distributor.
