The name's Rob, and I'm here in Bowling Green, KY(home of the corvette) and I just purchased a 82 zxt with a rough body with plans on transplanting the eng/trans into a 240 or 260. I had a few 240's a while back but have forgotten more than I remember about them. My question is this: how much of the zxt can I put into the 240/260(eg. motor, trans, rear end, half shafts, front and rear disc brakes, etc)? I am going to take what I can off this 82 that will go into the 240/240 and either scrap or part out the rest. My goal is a stock appearing(inside and out) 240z with a strong powerplant(fuel injected turbo). I'll probably put the zxt 15" rims on it and dramatically upgrade the suspension and braking syst. I realize their are kits available, but I'd like to use whatever I have, if possible. I do have knowledge of turbo and supercharging honda's and have a history of owning several 240z's, a 79zx several rx-7's(1st gens) and several honda(nopi cars). Hope this helps and any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
rob

Re: New to the site,got a question or 2. . . (more

Well let me say welcome this place is like herion you will never leave =) jk and also-ok Well the 240z-260z-280z-280zx are the models and well I believe its like this here are the models that match | 240z- early 260z |-| late 260z- 280z|-|280zx on its owne| most of the first gen cars you can mix and match but the 280zx is a diffrent beast you can use the engine and transmission and wheels and that is mainly it the suspension is very diffrent between the 2 Generations and also the interior is diffrent you may be able to use the the seats umm rearend with a conversion to a r200 mustache bar ( i may be wrong) you can use the back brakes and convert the 1st GEN. to all disk- you can use the mirriors and running lights on the fenders if you want you cant use the half shafts i dont believe and also the drive shaft umm the windows are a big no- i dont think the Rack can be used you can prob use the head lights now were really stripping the car LOL that i believe is pretty much it all that and the kitchen sink =) good luck man just keep your eyes pelled what city do you live in you may have a club or even a shop i know here in tampa there is well the club im in and like 3 diffrent Z shops mabey 4
