As the owner of an '83 turbo, I'm pretty sure that the distributor is different than that on your car. The turbo dist has no points and uses a crank angle sensor.

Do you think the 81 280ZX turbo distributor would work?

I hope someone here has a practical opinion on this. I'm honestly not sure. There were some changes between 1981 and 83.
