We are here to help and encourage. First thing download the Factory Service Manual (FSM). It is a FREE download and you are going to need it sooner or later. Find it here:
Datsun S130 Factory Service Manuals
Look thru it and and get familiar with the sections. Read thru the Engine Fuel (EF) section. It will give you a good understanding of how the fuel injection system and sub-systems work.
The diagnostic and inspection procedure starts on page 33. It is where you will start if your car is a non-runner.
Good luck and have fun. The car will draw people to you!

Welcome to the Z.

My first Zcar was a 1980 280zx (silver, with 2-tone blue and silver interior) and I so I get the excitement that you are feeling right now and am excited for you(y)
I'm not even going to attempt to ask what you paid for it.... these cars have skyrocketed in price since I bought mine in 2001. anyways, what matters is that you now have one of your own.

it's a fun car. drive it. take care of it. and don't do stupid things to it.

there are several resources around that will help you in your Z journey. get the FSM as mentioned above^^^^^ its free.
you can also supplement that with a haynes, chiltons, or better yet an old Clymer manual. they show up on ebay every now and then. www.xenonzcar.com has all the info you need to understand your 280zx (and any other Z frame for that matter) and you should really read up everything you can.

there are also several Z car clubs up in the Raleigh-Durham area that you could look into. I'm in Fayetteville/Fort Bragg, so if you need anything or got questions/issues, give me a shout here.

Bon

Bon, I wasn't aware of the Fayetteville area club. I joined the Emerald City Z car club out of Gville years ago when my 81 was in full glory. I showed the car at the Triangle Z car shows and the ones in the Tidewater. there was a fire about 10 years ago so the car sat in the garage, waiting for another day. I just re-joined here yesterday since I am finishing rebuilding the car. This has been major though. A Redbull can landed on the starter wire and set the battery on fire. Everything forward of the firewall was burned. I will be back here from time to time to search reference stuff but most of what I am doing I am pretty much on my own as the manual doesn't address details. I am fortunate to have found another 1981 Turbo for a template and used it for transplant. I have taken a lot of pictures for the S130 wiring and layout of parts which I can post here as needed for those that might face something similar. I formerly went by 1981.5280zxt here.
