I had my struts replaced a few weeks ago and recently noticed that the drivers side dust boot was missing. Don't know if it always was or not as mechanic never mentioned it when he installed new ones.
So has anyone ever home-made a dust boot to protect the strut rod?
My idea was using a flexible rubber hose (if I can find one) so it would flex with the movement of the strut, like the old style ribbed radiator hose, large enough in diameter to cover the strut, and split it lengthwise then work it between the spring coil and pull the split apart and over the strut.
Any of you guys ever done anything like this?
Ideas and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
