I just came into a 78 with a blown head gasket, got it all back together, but no power to the ignition block - which means no flashers and worse - no fuel pump. I have the wiring diagram from my 260 factory manual, but they ain't the same! I have called all over the place and cannot seem to find a factory manual for the 78. If you know of anyone interested in departing with theirs PLEASE let me know, I would be willing to pay a fair price. OR if anyone knows where I can order one, I would be more than willing to do that. Heck, if nothing else, just the wiring diagram would suffice! The best way to reach me is via e-mail, but I will check the postings as I can throughout the day. E-mail is [email protected]. Better yet, if any of you may know what my problem may be, I'm all ears!

Tim,
There is a wire with a fusible link in it coming off the positive terminal of your battery that provides the power to your ECU. Make sure its connections aren't corroded or it's not fryed. Mine discnnected one day while I was driving my car and the engine was instantly dead. I did have lights, though.

I heard they weren't great

I spoke to the fellow at Motorsport auto and he stated that they run it through a copy machine and that the wiring diagram is next to useless because the print is so fine, their copier is not printing it correctly so he said to forget about reading wire colors. That is the one thing I need is a clear copy of the wiring diagram. Oh well, maybe someone will come up with one! Thanks for the info!

I have one of Dyment's photocopied manuals for my '83, and it's perfectly readable. Their photocopying was of very good quality. No problems with any of the wiring diagrams, and my '83 has a much more complicated wiring schematic than does your '78. I'm not sure what the Motorsport Auto guys are doing disrespecting the Dyment copies, given that they can't be bothered to provide better copies themselves, so take their comments for what they're worth.

The only thing you won't get from the Dyment photocopy is the actual _color_ in the wiring diagrams ( the color itself, not the color _codes_, ) and the touchy-feely wonderful texture of the original paperback manual covers ( can't photocopy that. )
