My UK model 260Z has suddenly started eating batteries. Is anyone aware of a particular part of the wiring that is likely to short out and create a drain? She was fine for ages but then the battery started to fail and I had to put her on a charger every few days. Then I missed a "charge" and the battery went flat. I bought a brand new battery but the same problem happened and the new one is now junk too (I know, I know... I should have disconnected it!). The only thing I'd done before this prob appeared was to add an earth strap from the negative terminal to the bodyshell - this wouldn't be a problem surely? The alternator seems fine and charges well, so I reckon it's a short.
Due to bad weather and lack of time I've not yet started the laborious business of trying to find the short circuit. Does anyone have a pointer to a particular circuit that might be known as prone to shorting?
All help gratefully recieved!
Thanks,
TL
