Just picked up my first z car on weds. for a whopping $500. 1987 2+2 with non-leaking t-tops and all the switches work except passenger window. The inside looks like a tiger got loose in it, but the body is 7-8/10 and the engine runs strong with 432xxx on the odometer.

wow thats alot of miles, the first thing you should do it the timing chain. Those vg30 engines are know as an interference engine which means......that is the timing chain/belt breaks the engine will destroy itself. is 1.7 seconds. Then u got a nice paper weight, pretty cheep insurence considering the cost of a new engine
:) going to kragen tomorrow... changing timing chain, serpentine belt, plugs and wires and an oil/trans fluid change and hopefully she passes smog. the only issue i have had so far is the belt squealing when i first turn her on. other than that she fires up and runs like a champ.
Just tighten the sqealy belt and you good to go,oh while you are replacing the timing Belt just change the water pump .
I picked up the chiltons guide lat week, and then things went sour. I have a non-turbo engine but the belts are routed like its a turbo. The power steering pump leaked all over the belts which sprayed it all over the inside of the engine compartment and everything was caked with ps fluid and dirt. a gallon and a half of degreaser later things are nice and clean but im still reading low volts on the dash every once in a while so i think the alternator will be the next thing to get replaced.
