Mr. Worm,

Congratulations on your Z and Welcome. I just bought a '77 a few months ago and it's given me some problems but I love it. When it runs, It runs GOOD!!! Not to take anything away from anyone else but the two people that have helped me out the most have been Travis and Chung. Those guys really know their stuff. Good Luck and, HAVE FUN!!!

It sounds to me like a problem with the transmision, not the clutch. I have a 210 that wouldn't stay in 5th when I pressed the gas. The transmision eventually siezed. I changed the trans. and didn't touch the clutch and it worked fine. I don't know much about transmisions though.

I agree w/ Leslie that the problem is w/the tranny, not the clutch. A clutch cannot be misaligned once it is installed. It either works or it doesn't. It sounds to me like you have worn shifting forks. Those are the parts inside the tranny that actually engage the gears. My recomendation would be to just forget that one and get another tranny. I know that Pick-a-Part auto wrecking out here in CA. sells used tranny's for about $75. Good Luck!!!!

Pick-a-Part auto wreckyards can be found in the L.A. area, Fresno, Madera, the Bay Area and other places. Look in your phone book for a local site. You will need to bring you own tools and be prepared to pull the parts yourself.
Phone # for the Fresno yard is (559) 268-2016. They will be able to tell you where there is a yard in your area.
