well i was having an ok week... monday at work... monday went home...
monday night at 11:00 PM we went out for dinner, parked my car where i always do...

came back... and someone had hit and run'd it... :(

the rear left A Arm is twisted about 30 deg, that wheel is rotated about 45 deg forward... the rear quarter panel is umm completely messed up, they ground my car against the curb for well over a car length my hubs on the curb side look like someone went at them with an angle grinder... my front right wheel is shifted back about 5 inches (its at the back of the front wheel well. tail lights gone, rear spoler dislodged... the passenger door handle mechanism is broken internally... (the handle just clicks and the door doesn't move... the drivers door is almost there... ittl open but it takes some "convincing". And the frame looks like it got tweaked up quite badly.

now the point of all this... 2 options on where i could go from here

1.) I need a rolling chassis for a 240 in so cal... pref one with no engine, and stuff (thank god my engine came through ok)

2.) I need to know where i can take it to get repaired... (as far as i can tell it needs the a arm replaced, serious body work, front steering rack , and maby front axle replaced.

I will have pictures of it this weekend for you to see just how much this hurts...

on the plus side, the guy who hit me left me his front quarter panel, the plastic inner wheel well... part of a body kit, various trim pieces, a turn signal, wiring and a hose...

i'm truly suprised he was able to drive it away

anyway if you can help... drop me a line at e-mail cause this thread will scroll off pretty soon

Re: oh forgot this too

Sorry about your loss.

I can't help, but I do know how you feel. I've been through it three times. The first was with a 73 240 I bought new in 73. I drove it 10 years before an idiot jumped the median on Central Expressway in Dallas and hit me head on. I didn't have any choice but to put "My baby" to rest.

The next one was another 73. It wasn't quite as nice as my first because I only had it about 3 years before I was rear ended when the person in front of me stopped on an entrance ramp to Central. I stopped but the lady behind me didn't. These 240's have tin foil for frames so it was gone too.

The third 73 240 was a basketcase when I got it. It took me 5 years but I finally got it running good, the exterior painted, and almost had the interior done. This time my daughter was driving when a someone ran a stop light and broadsided her. I wasn't nearly as concerned about the car as I was about my daughter. She was OK but the 240 wasn't.

I gave up on 240s for a year or so, but then found another 240 with 45,000 original miles. It was perfect, except that the orignal green paint was badly faded. (And it is really ugly when its faded.) That was four years ago. It still has the ugly paint, but the engine and interior are in great shape, and I drive it every day. I'm too old to tackle stripping and painting it myself again.

Anyway, I hope you find your donor car. Don't give up on these cars. After 28 years driving one almost daily, I still can't think of anything else I rather drive.

Dude that sucks

That was a great example of an early 240Z. From your webstie looks like you done a alot of work to that engine at least you can save it.

Hopefully you can rebuild your nice little Z or at least find an equally nice platform to put you motor and stuff in.

Well at least they left..

you trophies.. and if you see any ricers running around without fenders or stuff and yellow paint take a pic, get the plates and report it. If you have the panels they can match them up to the crash and determine it was him :) good hunting and i'm sorry.

I have a extra....

Ebola,

I just so happen to have a 73 240 without an engine that I'm will to let go at a very fair price. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area (south bay) and I might have exactly what your looking for.

Let me know if your interested. BTW, its Hunter Green (not Lime) with a tan interior. The car is stock and is complete minus the engine and tranny. If ya want to see pictures, I have a digital camera.

E-mail me if your interested.

After a solemn moment of silence.....

Sorry that happened, hopefully you'll be able to find another frame to put all your good items into.

I would hold onto it until you got another frame to receive all the parts, and use it as a donor car. Whatever you do don't send it to the yard with all those good interior parts and emblems.

P.S. Not promoting violence, but the individual that did it should have every toe on both feet broken and forced to run 5 or 10 miles.
