I am looking for recommendations from those of you who keep their Z's outside of their garage.

I live in AZ and have a nice 1977 280Z with 40,000 miles on it. In my garage is the wife's BMW, my Boxster, and another 1978 280Z I am restoring. So, for the meantime, I am going to have to store my 1977 outside.

The 1977's paint is in great shape and the overall the car is worth around $6500 in my opinion.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a car cover? Are the ones from MSA any good (fit well?) The only "cover" I am NOT interested in is the ones where you drive your car into this "baggie" and seal it up. Just can't talk myself into this setup...

Get a High quality car cover from AutoZone or Pep girls...the good ones run about $125.

Covers run about $39 - $150. Dont use plastic tarps.- moisture trap.
Like your girlfriends underwear, its gotta breathe, otherwise results are unpredictable.

SoCal Similar...

Car covers are nice, but in the breeze they can chafe the paint if you don't clean them regularly. I put mine under one of those EMT Conduit and Tarp shelters I bought at the local hardware store. It keeps the sun off it, It breaks down and transports in my pickup for forays out in the desert, and I can put my car cover on it, and don't worry about wind whipping it off.
I made two sets of pole anchors, one set weighted Z Rims filled with concrete, and another set with 5-gal buckets of concrete. I take the buckets with me to set it up in the desert. My tarp is now 3 years old, and still looks good as new, which really is suprising.
McFadden-Dale Hardware in Phoenix should carry them, I bought mine at their store in Corona CA.
