I've had a Blaster 2 on my 83 280zx for a couple of years but I'm just begining to wonder, I hooked up the ballast resister that came with it..Should I have? or is that just for 280's with points? Anyone with some knowledge on MSDs, please help,Kip

No, you don't need it. I have a Blaster 2 on my 83 and didn't even buy the one that comes with the resistor.

I have a Crane cams fire ball coil on my 83 and I hooked
up the ballast resistor that came with it.
and once I turned the ignition to the on
position the resistor became bright red and started smoking. The same thing might happen
with yours. So I called up motorsport and
asked them if I needed to use the stock resistor
and they said yes. BUT, help there is pretty
inconsistent, so I don't know if I should have
or not. But now that I think about it, my
FI system does act, well, stupid. I'm gonna try
with no resistor or whatever.
