Has anyone installed the 10-2003 cam from Motorsport?

It is the 3rd one on the list and is .460 lift and 270/280 duration.

I have a 74 early 260 with no engine mods.

Feedback regarding power, idle, power range and any problems regarding install or usage would be very welcome.

Thanks, Steve

good cam I think. that's what I got in my 280z. idle wasn't bad, and power band is good up to 6000rpm+. I had my head off andthe head shop installed and checked for clearance and thing. I had to get shorter valve stem seal for clearance. I think it was off Chevy SB. That's about it. No other problem

Performance cam requirements

I am NOT an expert (fairly obvious) on the all of the things that make a cam/engine combination work properly. But, these people are www.elgincams.com click on the camshafts link on the left side of the page. They state clearly that you should not use a 270+ duration cam on a 8:1 engine. They recomend something like 9:1 or so.

The intake/exhaust system needs to match the cam duration as well. My own personal example is my 274/274 duration cam (I have 10:1 compression) with my stock exhaust manifold and 21/2" straight pipe to a 2 chamber Flowmaster. The stock exhaust manifold really scavenges to much exhaust for the cam I have. My engine is still tuneable (Thanks to FI) but would definnetly make more power and run a little better with headers. I can't recomend this bit of reading enough. If you follow the advice given in this article you will be on your way to the best situation possible for what ever you have planned for any car.

yo2001>stem seals!!

You mean that I could just get some SBC seals and stop running around like an idiot trying to find some seals?????? Wow, that would make finding them easy!!!
One place had 2 seals on stock, another had 4, another had another 4..... What's with that??? Urg, that was frustrating hearing that consitering anyone doing this needs 12!!!
