Maxima flywheel is alot lighter wieght than the Z unit (that's good), but is interchangable. I'm not sure if a Maxima clutch would work on a Z.
What about the clutch surface area, is it the same?
Here's what you need to know: The 240 and the Maxima share the same clutch disk. The Maxima has a softer pressure plate as opposed to the 240. I got on Advanced Auto Parts website and compared the 2 vehicles on their clutches and also have the "How to Modifiy the L-series Engine" and they have a section on the different clutches offered. Hope this was of help.

but what about the tranny? Are they interchangeable too?
Yes there is no difference, just maybe the gearing. You will want to remember to swap out the speedo pinion when doing this.

anyone know the wieght difference between the 240z flywheel and the maxima's?
