I have many different answeres so which one is it?

How many horses does the stock L28 82zx 2+2 manual have? 130? 180?

What is the top speed?

Since my speedo only says 85, I can get fifth gear to 5000 rpm's. It will still climb but verrrrry sloowwwwwly...

Stock it should put down about 130 at the wheels. The 180 or 170 as I've seen it is a crank hp rating, with the driveline and all accesories the hp drops down in the 130 range. A clogged cat and worn out oxygen sensors will really bring these #'s down though.

Top speed is about 125-135 stock, 5000 rpm in 5th is about 4800 rpm in 4th which means you were going around 120 maybe a little less, probably wouldn't go much faster. Try not to pull 5th, it puts alot of stress on the tranny, I've had 3 82 5spd fail when I was trying to top out fifth - A center support bearing failed each time. If your trannys rebuilt it shouldn't be an issue.

An 81-83 280ZX non-turbo(flat-top motor) puts out 145hp at the flywheel. 79-80 280ZXs put out 135(dished motor), 81-83 turbos put out 180. as for top speed 120-125mph
