I'm looking to buy pistons and rings in +.40mm. Preferably in the flat top variation. There seems to be a worldwide shortage of some kind. Please point me in the direction of some +.40 flat tops for the l28. 280zx or 280z since they're the same block, just as long as its flat top.

Just went through the same search no luck. My car sat for 33 years and every bore had so much rust buildup. I had to sleeve the block, bore and hone,deck ect. I went with the standard bore pistons from Z Car Depot. I am very pleased with the way it worked out.

I actually just found a set and ordered them yesterday! Rings and everything. I find it strange that there’s a shortage of oversized rings/ pistons, seeing how an engine will rarely need standard piston sizes. Just out of curiosity, how much did the machine shop charge to do all that?

Not finished with her yet. They are a machine shop here in Lexington,Ky and will machine older blocks and bring em back to new. My block needed alot of work after sitting so yours might not be as much just to bore and hone.
