I recently took the head off a 1982 280zx had a valve job and had the head rebuild with new head gasket everything is back together now and the car just won't start the timing is right and its has compression and fuel but spark seems to be a bit week. When I Crack it with a plug outside you can barely see the spark. I hooked up a voltage meter on the battery to see if it was low but the meter got very hot. Looks to me like there's a short somewhere the obstructing the spark. Anyone have any ideas where a short might be messing with the ignition system?

i doubt this is a short and more likely HEAVY corrosion causing resistance somewhere there. Check your fusible link terminals for corrosion - if its there sand it off etc. If it isn't just start poking around the connectors/grounds in the engine and give them a good cleaning with sand paper and contact cleaner. Even if that isnt the issue, the car will run way better regardless.
