My car was running fine, but recently it runs great untill I get around 3-4 grand. At those RPM's and with full throttle my car's starts to backfiire through the intake and has very poor acceleration.

I'm thinking I need a new fuel filter, I also noticed that my gas gauge dropped to below 1/4 of a tank. So could fuel starvation at hi RPM's with full throttle cause the backfire through the intake?

Thanks

Josh,

I've had similar problems with my 81 zxt over the past 6 months. The first time, I replaced the fuel filter and it fixed the problem. When it recently started happening again, I tried a new filter but it didn't fix the problem. At the suggestion of a fellow 280zxt owner on the forum, I unplugged and plugged the connectors to the computer several times and now the car runs better than ever.
