I'm right there with you. My late 260 race car has a blank cover plate in the sending unit hole and I can't find a replacement. I compared the '74.5 to a '75 and they are different. The arm lengths are not the same, so the readings will likely be off. The '70 - '74 tanks are different. I believe you will have to limit your search to a proper used '74.5 sending unit as they are NLA new.
Late 260 Fuel Tank Sending Unit
My late (12/74) 260 fuel gauge doesn't work and I've done all the checking of wiring and cleaning connections by the tank. Replaced the gauge some years back and everything has worked till lately. My thoughts are the sending unit is shot, but the only one I see available to buy is for cars up to 8/74. Will they still work? For the 280 manufactured in 75 (which has parts that fit the late 260) I don't see anything available. Perhaps they went with different sending units on the 280. Suggestions?
