I was wondering how to calculate the lash pad thicknes. i have some examples of different high performance cams
(.475'/270deg.)* use .160 pads
(.490'/290deg.)* use .160 pads
(.580'/278deg.)* use .280 pads
(.620'/300deg.)* use .280 pads.

I can get them in any thickness increasing by .01 between those two, now i have a cam with the specs
(.555'/300deg.)
what pads should i use. I was going to order .250-.260, but i want to get the right ones so what do you guys/gals think or know is the right size? is there a formula for calculating thickness? I want to get every detail on my engine right.

Shorter ones would work better on your benefit. When the lash pads are too tall, the rocker arms tilt back too far and you'll loose some lift. Check out "How to modify your Nissan OHC" there are more detailed info.
