Hello everyone,
Just wanted to see if anyone could help with calculating HP for this engine. I built this engine for my 240Z. I'm using a shaved E88 head with larger 280 exhaust valves, mild cam (lift .460 duration 270/280), L28 flat top pistons, MSA 6-2-1 headers, twin SU's, twin K&N round filters, electric fan, no smog parts, and 2.5" exhaust to a turbo high flow muffler. I looked at The Datsun Z Garage sight and found that if I used an E88 heads on a L28 flat top piston block I would be looking at about 10.4 compression. So assuming that is correct with my shaved heads I should maybe be geting somewhere around 10.6-7 compression ratio. Thanks for your help.

You're setup sounds good. What did you put this in? I have almost the exact same setup. Except I'm using an E31 head and my F54 block has the pistons bored over .050. This will be going in a '71 240 in 2 weeks. I can't wait to see it scream.

I was thinking that I'm getting about that compression also. What's the URL for the Datsun Z Garage? I've lost that bookmark.

Cool, I'm using the F54 block as well. The block spun freely and looked in good condition so I didn't do anything to the bottom end. Its going into my 72 240 soon. I can't waite to see how it feels also. Do you have any idea's as to how much power your going to be getting with ur set-up? I'm curiouse to find out. Maybe, I'll just have to waite until its in like you.

Don't know about HP exactly, but you are looking close to 200HP, but i have excatly same engine in my 240Z,regarding CR, if you have normal bore with not shaved E88,you should have 9.79, with 0.5 mm overbore 9.89 and with 1mm 9.99.This is if you use oem head gasket,if you will use FELPRO CR will be higher.Depending how much was shaved from the head CR will increase, but be careful, you can end up with pinging problem, it also depends on what octane gas you have in your state 91--93.Just my 02
