hello ok i was wondering if the K.N. oil filter that i bought for my 240z has an antiback flow valve to prevent dry starting and keep oil up to the engine then do you get an acurate reading on the dip stick??? explain this to me becuase im not sure how this item works to prevent backflow of the oil??? thankyou michele

If you look inside the filter you should see a spring at the bottom. Not exactly sure how it works but that is it. Should not affect dipstick readings too much but the filter should hold some oil. It being on its side means some will drain back when the car is off anyway. I always fill my filters when changing the oil as much as possible then quickly spin it on. Then unplug the coil and crank it a few revs before letting it start. A little anal I suppose and I don't always change the oil myself but every little bit helps I suppose.
