I just bought a 83 ZXT and I'm looking for a kit to replace the airbox/ducting and give me a conical K&N filter and ducting. K&N makes them for all the new stuff but I've only found the stock airfilter replacement on their website. Also has anyone used motorsports upgraded replacement computers?

Neil-Motorsport has a bolt-on unit that (I think) uses a K&N cone filter. Most guys just make their own. You can buy the K&N element (or another brand) for less than 50 bucks and the tubing for less than 20. Its a pretty simple deal if you shop around for the right parts.
Of course, the Motorsport unit is professionally made and nicely powder coated.

don't screw around with getting a k&n for the pansy stock air box. Go to autozone buy a cone filter. The go to a Auto value or some where, where you can get a 3in pipe with a 90 degree bend. Next go home then take out the aire box and cut part of the pipe so it will fit in you car and put the filter on the pipe. This allows for better filtering and air flow.

Just wondering, would a mod like this make my car not pass smog?

You should be able to pass the emissions test, but I don't know if your state has a visual or not. If there isn't a exemption #, then you might not pass, but it's no big deal since changing back to stock should only take a few minutes.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I look foward to trying it. How about the massaged computers from Motorsport Auto? Its $600 and if I'm going to end up using a boost controller and a intercooler kit I wonder if its worth it?
