Junkyard prices

The local junkyard here has 2 l28et's each have 130-140 compression. Both have P90 heads. the guy will not go below 650 CDN for either one and thats WITHOUT the turbo. His reasoning is that "the turbo alone is worth a few hundred dollars" and that "turbo engines are wortha lot of money these days" IS there anyone who can beat his price. Ill gladly pay shipping. Condition doen't bother me too much because im going to rebuild it anyways but the nicer the shape the better.

also since I am putting it into a 73 240Z I am switching to EFI. Everyone says to use a fuel tank from a 280Z. I am curiosu if anyone has ever used a fuel tank from an S130 or if I could jsut retro fit a fuel pump in there from a different car?

Well, IF there was one in our local junkyard it would probably be about 300-400 USD. But there isn't one. I think you'd be better off to just buy the one there... Shipping any motor would kill you! You'd probably pay almost the price of the engine again just to ship it!
Don't know about using the tank from a later model zx but you need the 280 tank because it has baffles in it. The baffles keep the fuel at the sump instead of sloshing all around going up steep hills and making sharp turns. Some people on here have put fuel cells in there cars as well. I put one in my 260z when I fuel injected it, Soon it will be turbo'd so I am ahead in that area. The fuel pump for your car will mount outside of the tank.

Dexter 260z
any suggestions on fuel pumps? Z's are rare in my city and as such there aren't any 280Z fuel tanks to have. I am just trying to get prepared for a swap and am gathering as much information as i can
just keep your eyes open for a 280Z for the tank. i drive a 75 280 stock, and i replaced the OE fuel pump with a stock 82 280ZX fuel pump, definitely a different part but it fits the application perfectly well as the fuel injection was essentially the same. i figured hey, they probly made it better after seven years experience.
Dude if you're going to rebuild it...pull a fast one and outthink him. Get a motor from a late 280ZX na...same **** block, crank, and rods. Then just rebuild it with new dished pistons and POW, you fukk him over while saving some money. Oh ya, get a turbo oil pan though :)

If you just want a stock type turbo motor, get a universal pump that most auto parts stores sell. If not, talk to Alex (PrecisionEngines), he recommends Bosch units, he might even sell em, I dunno.
the problem is so far he is the only guy i can find who has any L-series engines. Living where I do can be tough to find parts as msot people drive beaters all year round. Although it is fabled that there is a yard nearby that has many S30's
Is it all that hard for you to cross the border into the states and find a junkyard? I've never gone between countries before...just make sure you don't try to sneak anything back in your ass, I hear they are allowed to check for that kinda thing :)
but the border is sooooooooo far away and i cant even garuantee that there will be an engine there. Then again if there is any North Dakotans here that will help me....
People actually live in North Dakota? I figured that place was far too boring for people to inhabit. Anyways, check out www.car-parts.com and search a state that's closest to you. I'm sure if you find one they won't mind shipping it to Canada. I've shipped parts to Canada before, it's not that big a deal.
