i went to one of those usedimport engine place here in los angeles yesterday to see if they had anything of interest. well the do get in some L28's in and the transmissions aswell. my question is what kinda of HP do the japan L28 get compared to the US version. the L28 engine they had there has the japan valve cover on it. big block letter NISSAN on it. thanks in advance for any kind of help. P.S. the cost of L28 is $597.00, 6 month guarantee, trany was $295.00 with 2 month guarantee. no core needed. engines are suppose to have about 50K miles on them.

I got a used japanese motor a few years back .I don't know if that has anything to do with
the fact that I now get about 3 mpg less per gal .Never really thought about it
before now . The motor has been great though and I'd do it again .

No Difference.

Sameo-sameo as you must install the US Spec ECU and Induction.
Internally they are identical, though some quirks in piston top and exhaust port configuration are notable: mainly that they only ran square-port heads on them to 83, no round-port emissions-lined exhaust ports in Japan.
The supply is drying up, though. To actually find an L28 this late in the cycle life is amazing! Most of them came off the road back in the mid-late 90's.
