I'm just getting started with z's so im going to take my chances and ask a stupid question. I don't plan anything more than a few bolt on mods so would ya'll advice going with a centerforce clutch or do the stock components have enough holding power?

Meeko, i don't see where anyone has answered yet, so i'll take a stab at this... i have changed the clutch twice on my '78 with 230k miles. the original clutch lasted a little over 100k, i bought the heavy duty piece (one step above stock) probably Beck-Arnley, it lasted 125k miles, and now with a new turbo motor(just because) i'm running a clutchmasters kevlar. i was advised to stay away from centerforce. you will do well with the heavy duty unit.

I HAD A 72 Z RUNNING A 225HP 2.4L INLINE-6. WITH A 0 TO 60 TIME OF 4.0 SECONDS.
I REPLACED MY STOCK FLYWHEEL WITH A 78 Z 2+2 FLYWHEEL AND TRANS. THE REASON FOR A 2+2 FLYWHEEL IS IT HAS A LARGER CLUCH SURFACE THEN A STOCK ONE, PLUS I AM PARSHALL TO LUC BRAND CLUCH KITS, TRUE THEY ARE GERMAN MADE BUT ALOT OR HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS CARS USE THEM.

Meeko, I also have installed a 2+2 flywheel and daikin clutch setup 10 years ago on one of my 240z's, and it has held up fine, although I don't do hole shots with it. We also installed a centerforce in a customer's car who abused the heck out of it, and it held up up until he blew the engine. He used to go backwards burning rubber until it wouldn't go anymore, then shift to 2nd, and burn em the other way. His mom cried when after only 2 months after having a stock clutch installed, we had to do it again with the centerforce. (her visa)
