I am looking for a budget way to get around having to send Motorsport Auto $250 for the Webber Big throat throttle body. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative? I have seen one throttle body from a nissan truck that was the same size as the webber, but no one seemed to know what truck it came from. Any ideas???????? Thanks guys....

Tony, I have a BMW 7-series throttle body just like the one pictured in the book Essential Datsun Z. $50 + shipping to you. it would require an adapter plate, but is made for the 3.5 liter 6 on a 735i

We've used the BMW also but we didn't need an adapter plate we slotted the TB holes

Another way is to take your TB to any machine shop and have it bored out and a new throttle plate built and installed. Should be much cheaper and will appear stock.

Tony, it's [email protected]

also, have you heard anything about the 240sx throttle body?? it is supposed to be bigger and possibly a bolt-on!!
i'll measure the bmw unit tonight to give you an idea of flow, but I know too big is bad on a NA motor because it kills flow. if you've ever seen the book I mentioned, you know this swap was done in England, where everyone is a tinkerer.

I have a 240SX TB which has the same bolt pattern and is substantially larger than the ZXT unit. It will require a spacer plate and maybe a switch to a throttle cable instead of the stock linkage. I intend to use this setup in the near future.
