Yeah that's the fan that they put on the zx's to try and prevent vapor lock. It's not really neaded. Remember that a turbocharger is two turbines on a common shaft. One is driven by the exhaust gasses of your engine and the other one is connected to it and acts as a supercharger for your engine. Originally turbos were called "turbo-superchargers" like on ww2 planes, etc. You will always find them attached to your exhaust manifold with the blower side piped into the intake manifold. A genuine L28 turbo is usually pretty conspicuous as it has a black valve cover with "TURBO" cast into it. Sorry for the lecture...

you need the right reference tools in order to begin your Z car journey... please go to www.xenonzcar.com, S130 section and begin reading all the info you need to know about the 280zx and zcars in general. keep reading.

a good way of identifying a stock turbo motor is the location of the air flow meter. non-turbo has it right up front, upper left side and just ahead of the engine, going right into the throttle body via rubber boot. the turbo has the air flow meter mounted slightly below and closer to the engine and there is a u-shaped intake metal tubing that goes into the throttle body.

Bon
