Installing struts in a 280z

Dear Z friends,I am goimg to replace my struts and the f.s.m says that when you you put the new strut in that you should put some oil in it but I don't remember it saying what kind of oil and how much, and I was wondering do have to put oil in these new struts that are gas.THANKS,ROBERT

Check out the search feature and Blue's Tech Tips. I used ATF on my Tokicos for heat transfer (less than 1 qt for all 4).
i used motor oil when i did it about a month ago,
Have heard the original 240s actually used whale oil in the struts. Don't know how you'd ever check that, but I wonder if it's true.
The original struts had the valving and oil in the tubes. Back in the day for cheap performance I replaced the original oil. which was the consistency of hydraulic oil, with motor oil. The FSM listed the volume of oil to put in. It sure stiffened the ride.
