Simple answer for air-to-air ic: intake air is drawn though the airfilter to the turbo compressor> turbo compresses intake air> compressing the air causes it to heat up (not a good thing) > compressed intake air goes through pipe to ic where its cooled by air moving over the fins>then the air is drawn into the intake manifold & mixed with fuel and ignited in the combustion chambers > through the exhaust manifold > to spin the turbine (or bypass it through the wastegate)
