So I got bored a couple weeks ago and decided to cut it off. The sound is really addictive. I just came in from a late night banzai run and best of all it scares the living shite out of inattentive drivers.... The digital camera I have sucks and doesn't actually record the sound accurately at all. It is deeper sounding than in the video but you get the idea.

Nice going , Norm!
Sounds incredibly good, even on your cheap camera.

Funny thing, my son and I have been having the same conversation
about cutting the muffler off his '81.

Now you know why it says "loud pipes save lives".
Think the loud pipes saves lives is more geared towards motorcycles.. being that they can't be seen, and if you get into a crash you're incredibly luck to come out intact..
Sounds great! Is your tach accurate? It just doesn't sound like the engine is wound up that tight when the tach hits 8 grand. The engine sounds as if it could rev quite a bit higher than when the tach redlines.
nice norm. i took my 260z on a 20mile drive to a muffler shop with just an open header. was a bit obnoxious around town, but man, opening it up on the highway was awesome! worst part of it is that the header dumps right by the pedal area... my legs were shaking for about half an hour after driving from the vibrations...
Hah yeah running the open header on the street is always a thrill! I've donw that a few times myself.
And yes the tach reads high, 8K is actually 7100 rpm but it impresses the **** out of unknowing passengers LOL
If I ran open headers the local gustapo would have my zx on the bed of a flatbed in a fortnight.
Re: RX-7

I tried running my street ported 7 once w/ an exhaust system built by a Mustang specialist. On excelleration the db was ear slpitting. Splattering at most RPMs. Went ahead & purchased Racing Beat duel Power Pulse system & tone is throaty. raspy & uniquely rotary.
Open it up but tune it for your engine.
Wicked!!
If I had the video I would have shown you guys a KW with the pipes chopped off at the elbow. These ******** I watched out in Kentucky where repairing it and the "mechanic/driver" drove it out to hear what it sounded like. Imagine a fleet of Harleys with amplifiers at the muffler.

I haven't checked your location but it sounds to me like you're in CA.
Try WA..... We got threatened by my neighbor with a "notice" to operate our vehicles at a reasonable hour or "legal action will be used." we live in a effin open neighborhood NEXT TO HIGHWAY 101! We have stock mufflers and the loudest vehicle our 83 Kawasaki 750 is rarely driven!

That is definitely what it is in reference to, but hey, it's a small car (yea, that excuse definitely works). All I know is that KyleKidd posted a video a few days ago and his 300zx had open headers and it sounded pretty bada**.
