If I am correct, I read somewhere that it is beneficial to remove the brass screens in the banjo fittings of the SU carbs fuel bowl inlet. Any one have any experience with this?

don't remove them, just clean them up because it is the last line defense for your engine from poor gasoline.

If what you read was good advice, then it probably said to be sure to remove the screens, for inspection, cleaning, and or replacing them as needed. You definently want to use them, and keep them in good shape. You also want to play close attention to the condition of the banjo fittings that they sit in. If there is any rust or corrosion on them, clean them out as good as possible. Without those screens in place, dirt can and will plug up your needle and seat, and cause your carbs to flood out severly. Those screens aren't expensive, and you can order them through Nissan, or us. We have them in stock. Z man of Washington

Agree!

There is superfine stuff that will get in there no matter what, but the thing the screens stop is the big chunks that get in the lines during maintenance (you know, the stuff you didn't see?)

The screens are notorious for "whiting over" with corrosion if the carbs were run, and set up without proper preservation procedures. Then they get sold, someone bolts them on, without proper inspection (not many know they are in there!) and then have fuel delivery problems.

They are something you want. They are cheap, replacing them or keeping spares in the golvebox is a nice reassurance to have---along with some nice new crush washers!

i looked at those banjo fittings but cant remember off hand if it was just an easy nut to loosen up and it comes aprt or not.

i really hate messing with parts like that cause they break often.
