Lately, when I turn my key to the on position I can clearly hear a humming noise sound coming from above the fuse box area in my 78. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be causing it. It's definitely not normal. When this first happened my car became hard to start. It starts fine again but idles a little rougher and seems to run richer.

Could this possibly be the "buzz" that is supposed to sound when a seatbelt is not connected? (Just that it is warn out like so many...)

Like I said in you more recent post, I beyt you are mistiakign the fuel pump hum for a problem. It would get activated when you turn on the ignition, which explains your confusion over the two things. When the car has electrical rpoblems (dead battery, poor alternator, etc, bas starter) those relays on the pass kick panel will click on and off. I never worry about it. It means that I have an electrical problem.
