OK, I turned OFF my stereo and noticed a humming noise or the like coming from the fuel pump...sound like it's going bad? Perhaps reason it has been difficult starting the car sometimes?

Bingo. Increased noise and hard starting are classic signs of a fuel pump on its last legs. I've had good luck getting replacements for cheap at wrecking yard. Rebuilts are next stage, but some of those are very noisy, or so I've heard. Word is that for the quietest replacement pumps, you have to buy new Nissan units, which are of course the most expensive.

autozone has a nice after market fuel pump for about 75$....have only had it for about 2 months..no problem has a lifetime warrenty i believe
